Craig Young and Julie Young brought Bryce Young into life on July 25, 2001 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has two parents who are African Americans. When Bryce small was still a small child, his parents moved to California and began making active contributions to their son's football career. Early life

I learned that Young was born in Philadelphia, but moved to Pasadena when he was growing up. Young attended Cathedral High School in Los Angeles and later transferred to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. As a senior, he was recognized as the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year and California's Gatorade Football Player of the Year after throwing for an impressive 4,528 yards and 58 touchdowns. He was also named the USA Today High School Offensive Player of the Year. During his high school career, he passed for over 13,000 yards and 152 touchdowns and was ranked as a five-star recruit and the second-overall prospect in the nation. Despite originally committing to USC, Young ultimately decided to play football at Alabama.

Young filled in for junior quarterback Mac Jones throughout the 2020 season during his first year at Alabama. Young made his collegiate debut against Missouri on September 26, 2020, in the final minutes of the third quarter at Faurot Field. Young had a 5-of-8 passing performance for 54 passing yards and two rushing yards on four carries that evening. In a 63-3 victory over Kentucky on November 21, he completed his first collegiate touchdown pass.  2020 saw Young play in nine games, compiling 156 passing yards and one touchdown.
